This is a Japanese twist to our usual fish & chips.
Ingredients
1 lb cod or other lean fish fillet
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vinegar
2/3 cup water
1 pack furikake
1/2 lemon
Directions
1. Cut fish filets into 2 x 1/-1/2-inch pieces. Pat dry with paper towels.
2. Mix flour, salt and half pack of furikake.
3. Mix baking soda and vinegar.
4. Stir vinegar mixture and water into flour mixture; beat until smooth.
5. Dip fish into batter, allowing excess batter to drip into bowl.
6. Fry 4 or 5 fish pieces at a time about 3 minutes, turning fish once, until brown.
7. Immediately toss fish pieces with the rest of the furikake.
8. Serve hot and will go perfectly nice with lemon.
