Mother's Day at Lerk Thai

Mother's Day is coming again! This year we had a early dinner celebration in Lerk Thai. We were really impressed with the freshness of the food and splendid service!

It's time to pamper mummy again!

We had Mother's Day menu A. Pricing is pretty reasonable for 4 paxs.

Started off with ice lemon grass drink, $3.50 (Not inclusive in the menu)
Refreshing and flavorful yet not too overpowering. Do you also know that lemon grass has heaps of health benefits that includes relieving stress and insomnia to detoxify the liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder and the digestive tract. Beautiful wondrous herb!

Crispy prawn cracker, not enough for us!!!

Glass noodle salad with seafood - A very appetizing salad and something different from the usual thai green mango or papaya salad. The glass noodle absorbs the lime & fish sauce dressing very well and has a nice chewy texture. Great combination of seafood, minced meat, onions, tomatoes, garlic and all the ingredients sings a perfect harmony for your tummy that goes, "I want more food~~" :D

And here comes some kick! The tom yam chicken clear soup has a well balanced of spiciness and sourness. I hate tom yam soup that's too spicy or too sour and Lerk Thai has done a brilliant job here.

Garoupa fillet with garlic and pepper sauce - Oohh.... Mouthful of fresh piping hot garoupa fillet is soooo fulfilling. The black pepper sauce is not too strong and just nice. The crunchy peppers goes so well with the beautifully coated black pepper garoupa fillet. I think the sauce is just nice and not drowning the fish and you can still taste the sweetness from the fish. Yumz!

They also add green peppers into the dish.
PS: Try the green pepper seeds by itself if you are a daredevil pepper person. *Not too nice by itself in my humble opinion :P*

Now this is the unique one: Stir fry morning glory with soy sauce / thai chilli.

Morning glory? Isn't that a flower? I then realized it's actually kang kong and they took away the leaves and shredded the stems. A lot of effort but is very rewarding as this dish was very refreshing and had a great crunchy texture to it. Gives a great kick start to your palette again.

And now my all time favorite - Fried king prawn with cereal!!!

Inspired by Chinese cuisine, Lerk Thai actually infuses lemon leaves with their cereal prawn and it surprisingly made the yummy cereal toppings lighter and even more tasty. One big mouthful of prawn followed by a scoop of infused lemon leave cereal and a bit of curry leaves... Crunchy, fresh, satisfying!

Tasty succulent king prawn. Must try!

Heart shape (How sweet is that?!) glutinous rice flavored with coconut & fresh mango slice. Prettily sprinkled with sesame seeds and serve with fresh coconut milk too. The glutinous rice has a satisfying chewy texture and this is a dish that's actually quite tough to prepare. It requires overnight soaking of glutinous rice and the right amount of coconut milk, sugar and the right temperature to get it right. The mango is definitely imported from Thailand with a honey sweet taste and this dish is quite popular as it can go out of stock sometimes. The hot glutinous rice and cold mango ends the meal on a perfect note.

We had a very fulfilling six course dinner with nice ambiance and great service. Great job Lerk Thai!

Happy Mother's Day!!
