Prevent and Stop iTunes From Updating Your iPhone 3GS Firmware to 3.1.3
Open Firmware 3.1.3 App and set the followings:
Version : 3.1.3
Build: 7E18
iTunes will now detect your iPhone firmware to be the latest.
How to Downgrade iPhone 3GS from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2

http://eatcookshoot.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-install-cracked-apps-on-iphone.html
It really pissed me off today when my iPhone shuts off, reboots and hangs out of a sudden when I was using it. The phone was connected to my laptop as I was charging it and when I opened itunes, I realized the firmware of my iPhone was automatically updated to 3.1.3 without my consent!
I was not able to find any suitable jailbreaking methods for iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 and hence the preferred and more stable method is to downgrade the firmware back to 3.1.2.
In this latest firmware update, apple actually prevents users to perform any downgrading. Hence the usual method of shift select to restore iPhone with your selected firmware will NOT work and instead you will get an error message pop up box.
Step by step guide -
My equipments:
- iPhone 3GS
- Windows XP
*Yes I know this might sound stupid if you are in a situation with a iPhone that refuse to be turned on. So just proceed if your iPhone is as hung up as mine*
Follow the jailbreaking and app hack BEFORE restoring your backup and once again enjoy your iPhone.

Apple iPad - What's Missing?
Apple revealed their latest creation iPad yesterday. To most users (including myself), disappointments overwhelms excitement. Of course, it might be too early to predict the scalability and potential of iPad. But the lack of features doesn't entice me to purchase an unit immediately.
It's positioned to reduce the gap between a smart phone and laptop. But it does not support:
- Make phone calls
- Take pictures or videos
- Imaging editing software such as photoshop
- Flash or Javascript
But it is certainly:
- Very sleek looking
- Enhanced entertainment with bigger screen for games and videos
- Or I call it a.... Giant super-sized iTouch.
Will it be a white elephant??? We shall see in months to come...

Watch Live Coverage of Apple Event on 27th January 2010 Online
There is surely something special about Apple and January 27, 2010. Even if not, the whole online world is buzzing with rumors about the products that Apple will be unveiling in the event it is hosting on 27th January.
The products from Apple’s development house have always been most anticipated and rumored. The products have always been surrounded with speculation be it iPhone, iPod or any other.
This time, the most rumored products are: a tablet PC from Apple (rumored as iSlate), the new version of Apple iPhone OS ( iPhone OS 4.0) and iLife 2010 software.
On the same venue, that marked the return of Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs after health problems, the company will unveil its latest creation, as it invites the journalists by sending an email invitation.
If we really do get to see the walk-through of a new tablet from Apple (or an iSlate) in the event, it will be the first major product from company in 3 years, after iPhone. As many people are saying and blogs are reporting, iSlate is presumed to bridge the gap between smartphones and laptops
. We have already seen many rumored pictures of a concept tablet from Apple before like this:
No news or details about Apple tablet (iSlate), or iPhone OS 4.0 or iLife 2010 is confirmed till now, but still the brand name Apple will be enough for people around the world to be excited and keep their fingers crossed for this big event.
Here is our review and speculation about what we expect to see at this big event:
Apple Tablet
Apple tablet will be a new mobile device from Apple that will be a crossover between tablet PCs and ultra-thin notebooks. It will be a multi-touch device and will most probably include all the features that a new generation notebook includes: cloud-hosted OS, average storage memory, no optical drive but with a much larger display. The screen size of this device can be anywhere between 7-12 inches. BoyGenius has reported the size of its screen to be 7 inches, and many tech blogs are going by its words. But we disagree to this fact. We expect the size of screen in this device to be atleast 10-11 inches. Also, this event will most probably be just a demo of this conceptual device. Many blogs have claimed the availability of this device until March 2010. But we think, this device will take many more months to be available as a finished product.
Apple iPhone OS 4.0
Obviously as Apple has clarified in its invitation mail to everyone, it will not just be only the new tablet that will be gathering all the media coverage, people will also witness the new and improved iPhone OS 4.0.
As we expect, Apple will only show a demo of the new iPhone 4.0 and no physical implementation. But still the features we are expecting are important enough to be atleast announced at this event. We think that the new iPhone OS 4.0 will be more focussed towards multi-touch and multitasking. From multiple sources, the highlights of the iPhone 4.0 will be:
- Multi-touch: iPhone OS 4.0 will introduce system wide support for multi-touch.
- Multitasking: The new generation of iPhone OS will enable you to run multiple apps in the background. This certainly sounds exciting for the device that has the biggest market of mobile apps.
- Upgrade: The OS upgrade will be available for iPhone and iPhone 3GS.
- Sync and UI: We are expecting some more refinements to user interface of iPhone OS, as well as a better approach to sync contacts and calendar applications.

iPhone OS 4.0??
- There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
- "A few new ways" to run applications in the background -- multitasking.
- Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven't had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
- The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will "put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers" more than any other phone to date. Everyone is "really excited."
- The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.
The ability to run iPhone applications in the background has been near the top of many users' wish lists, but Apple has yet to implement full backgrounding and multitasking due to its effect on performance and battery life, instead opting to deploy push notifications as a means for closed applications to serve data to users. The expansion of the ability to run applications in the background beyond those few specified by Apple has been a relatively common theme, with multiple reports suggesting that Apple has been working on ways to deploy the functionality in at least a limited sense, although many expected such developments to be included in iPhone OS 3.0 last year.

PS: Please do not install OS 4.0 immediately as it might brick your iPhone if you have already jailbroken your iPhone.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS Version 3.1.2
Jailbreaking, while not illegal, gives a user the ability to install cracked and pirated apps, which is illegal. Jailbreaking, according to Apple, voids Apple's warranty on the device, although this is quickly remedied by restoring the device in iTunes.
So now, the first question is, what do I need to do?
Equipment: iPhone 3GS Version 3.1.2 (7D11)
Jailbreak: blackra1n
PC OS: Windows XP
- Verify your iPhone version : To verify your software version, simply select "settings -> General -> About" from the main menu. you will see the version number in the list.
- Download blackra1n and select the correct platform.
- Plug your iPhone to your computer and make sure iTunes is closed. Run BlackRa1n RC3 and click on “make it ra1n”.
- BlackRa1n will run on your iPhone and it will reboot when done.
- After your iPhone has rebooted, you will notice a new BlackRa1n icon on your springboard.
PS: BlackRa1n only supports a tethered jailbreak. This means that once jailbroken you should not let your battery die, reboot or off your phone. If it does die you will need to reconnect it to the computer and double-click on BlackRa1n to boot it up. A hassle I know, but you will not lose any data on your phone.

How to Remove Ringtone From iPhone
Equipment: iPhone 3GS Version 3.1.2 (7D11)
Jailbreak: blackra1n
Drag & drop program: iPhone Explorer
You will need to jailbreak your phone to enable the Real iPhone Root Directory. However if you jailbreak your phone using blackra1n, you will not be able to access the real root directory immediately.
You will need to:-
Download and install "afc2add" from Cydia. This will then resolve the issue.
In iPhone Explorer, update your root directory to "Real iPhone Root Directory"
Navigate to Library -> Ringtones and you can add, delete, edit any ringtones.
